I’m a teacher.

教師をしています。

Oh really? What do you teach?

そうなんですか?何を教えているんですか?

ハーバードで数学を教えています。






If you meet somebody for the first time, you are curious about  what the person does, what their job is?
You should not say "What is your job?"  That's not too nice.

When I meet somebody for the first time, I ask it. So you can, too.
