The importance of correct pronunciation(発音の大切さ)

As I described in previous my blog,I started to learning study English with the book whose title is 「You could say anything that you want to say with a brain of native speaker,conversation phases dictionary 」.

I was doing shadowing with that text and I used it in places  where many foreigners were gathering.

However for some reasons,my English was not understood smoothly by them.Afterwards I realized the reason why.



It was because of my pronunciation.  OMG

At that time I don't think that  pronunciations are important.What I knew about pronunciation is only that most Japanese can't pronounce R and L,and recognize them,too.So I though that I don't need to practice of pronunciation.

This idea was totally wrong.

I'd like to share my shameful experience which was caused from this wrong idea.


In the text It said

「Hi,ma'am. May I ask your name?」

I used this please,when I talk to foreigners at the beginning of conversations.



But I practically said





「Mom,may I ask your name?」





What a shame on me!!!!!!!!

Let me excuse,we Japanese don't have the vowels.To us Japanese Ma'am and Mom are totally same sounds.It cannot be avoided to making that epic fail.

Even if I was so shame at that time....when I was corrected my wrong,I sweated from holes which exist on my body with shame.So I wanted to hide any holes which exist in the worlds.


Next I'd like to explain from the point of pronunciation why Japanese tend to make this fail.



English has 4 vowels as you know well.
〔α〕〔æ〕〔э〕〔Λ〕

by contrast

Japanese has only one vowels（あ　≒〔æ〕） as you might don't know at all.

So Japanese use 〔æ〕sounds as other three vowels,too.

Cat,cot,and cut most of us can't recognize these different sounds,though you might be surprised.


In conclusion 

I realize how important pronunciation is.
